Rita-Soledad Fernández Paulino knows a thing or two about building wealth.
As the creator of the personal finance platform “Wealth Para Todos,” Soledad’s goal is to talk about money to as many people who are willing to listen. In particular, her focus is on the BIPOC and LGBTQ community. She is currently studying for her CFP exam.
Previously, Soledad was a math teacher. While sick on medical leave in March 2019, she started to develop her financial literacy by reading books, listening to podcasts, and watching YouTube videos. During this time, she put what she learned into practice. Soledad used zero-based budgeting to pay of $23,000 in student loan debt, save for a 6-month emergency fund, and max out her retirement contributions.
In this episode, Soledad shares how her Latino heritage influenced her perspective. She also discusses her poverty can create life-long trauma. In an industry that can be hella pale and hella male, Soledad’s voice is a breath of fresh air.
